I am currently researching recombinant silk-elastin-like proteins (SELP) and their potential as a rare earth element capture technology. - Co-led a research team for a DoE ARPA-e grant investigating the capture of Rare Earth and Precious metals using a bioengineering approach. Prepared quarterly progress reports, engineered protein biomaterials, designed and tested filtration devices, and presented findings at quarterly briefings. - DoD DARPA funded collaborative research for the capture and separation of Rare Earth Elements. Designed and tested silk-based separations columns. - DoD SERDP funded collaborative research with MIT and Lawrence Livermore National Labs. Engineered proteins for Rare Earth Element biomineralization based on computer modeling and deep learning. - Trained and mentored students in research projects. - Regularly communicated complex research topics to diverse audiences.

Assisted with process development and scale-up of saliva-based COVID-19 surveillance testing for the state of New York. Primary duties were performing RT-qPCR in 96- and 384-well format, training others in RNA isolation and RT-qPCR.
