Some of the defining events of my life were at 14 when I first started programming, at 17 when I became an Eagle Scout, and at 18 when I left for Vancouver, Canada to serve two years as a missionary.Since I was 14 I've had a love for problem-solving and creating things with code. Throughout high school, I was challenged with a computer science program that gave me opportunities to refine my skills as a programmer and gave me opportunities to find programming internships and jobs. I've continued my programming passion by creating small applications for things I do every day, to a larger application that I presented to the whole IT department at Johnson County Community College.At 17 I received the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America. This was a meaningful moment to me because it showed the work I had been putting in since I was 12. Throughout those years I was able to learn what it means to be a leader and how to bring people together to get a task done.At 18 I experienced the event that has changed my life the most. I left Kansas for two years in order to serve as a missionary in British Columbia, Canada. In these two years, I experienced more of what the world was like as I talked to new people every day. I became a much better communicator and learned how to talk to people about what they care about. I also learned how to plan my days for peak efficiency and how to follow that plan.After returning from Canada I went to Johnson County Community College and received an Associates in Information Technology and transferred to Kansas University where I achieved a 4.0 in my Bachelors for Information TechnologyI look forward to more events that will shape me and to continue learning.
