I started my career in Windows System Administration and quickly moved into the areas of virtualization, networking, and enterprise storage. My time as a Sr Systems Engineer allowed me to gain over 3 years experience with Windows, Linux, XenServer, VMWare, Networking, Scripting (PowerShell, Python), and Shared Storage. In this position I would audit customer infrastructure and engineer and price highly available private cloud solutions for hundreds of priority clients.In recent years I have assumed the responsibilities of an Infrastructure Manager in charge of a geographically dispersed team of network admins, system administrators, and support technicians. We managed uptime and support for all internal and customer facing technical infrastructure. In addition I was responsible for staffing, technology budget, vendor relationships, data center maintenance, and provider contracts. In my time at this position we were able to grow our cloud revenue and improve operational efficiency enough to be successfully acquired by a billion dollar company.As partner and CTO of the tech services startup Cozaq, LLC and Owner of the consulting firm Shafer Technical Services, LLC in my spare hours I share my technical experience by consulting companies on how they can improve their technical infrastructure to better serve their business needs. I am always learning new technologies and helping clients implement them in the most efficient and effective way possible.
