Camp Journey NW is a volunteer staffed, medically supervised summer camp for childhood survivors of cancer. Kids ages 5-17 and a friend or sibling (and their parents, at home) receive a free-of-charge break from hospital visits, home care, and other physical and emotional challenges associated with the disease.As a former camper-turned-counselor myself, I was very, very proud to see campers who had been in my first year's cabin in 2005 grow through the whole camp and return as counselors themselves in 2013-2014.Have served in many capacities from cabin counselor to support staff for ages 7-17, leading campfire songs, fixing things, assisting with high-needs campers, and speaking at the annual fundraising Ball held in Coeur d'Alene, ID.Since 2015, have also developed and led a progressive programming unit in robotics/technology, introducing such topics as circuits, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and creative engineering.
