As Senior Distiller I am responsible for supporting distilling team leadership with day-to-day production duties. Responsibilities include all aspects of new make whiskey production from grain handling through sensory evaluation, managing raw material inventory, proposing and managing R&D projects, managing production-scale yeast maintenance, and working.

• Ran and maintained all production equipment needed from grain to barrel. Responsibilities include cooking mash, distilling, operation of clean in place systems, regular forklift operation, and barrel handling.
• Helped the distillery through a large-scale production renovation which involved monitoring construction, commissioning the new system, refining of system mechanics related to production workflow, and writing standard.
• Used Six Sigma principals to design and maintain the new post-renovation sanitation program for the production system with the use of clean-in-place equipment including scheduling and efficacy testing.
• Regularly involved and active member of the Environmental Health and Safety committee, Employee Activity committee, and a founding member of the Nelson’s “Green Team” with efforts focused on distilling sustainability.
