I promote the socratic method, and encourage my students to talk to the person next to them to check their work. I also encourage my students to meet me out of class to form study groups that will hopefully last them their entire college career. I want my students to dive and jump into chemistry instead of just skimming the edge. My students are encouraged to come up to the board and defend their beliefs and to be okay with being wrong.

As a program, we go to schools around Goleta and Santa Barbara and help students design their own experiments based around a question that we introduce to them when first entering the class. Then we help the students make observations, think up a question, and design an experiment to come up with a conclusion that will help answer the overall question introduced to the entire class. I help out by leading the entire class through assignments while also working with groups of 3 to 4 students.
