As a graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, I am an eager young journalist who is hungry to inform his community and has high career aspirations. I have a passion for storytelling and my goal is to someday win a Pulitzer Prize for my writing. I am inspired by the likes of Ben Bradlee, Kay Graham and Ben Bagdikian for upholding the journalistic standard and fighting for our First Amendment rights by exercising them in the early '70s. Similarly, I look up to Martin Bright for upholding those same principles in the early 2000s by reporting facts that he believed the public deserved to know, despite the threat of persecution by his government.After graduation, I moved to the Los Angeles Metro Area to pursue a career in journalism, landing my first job as a sports reporter at The Santa Clarita Valley Signal. There, I learned how to survive in a newsroom. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic cut my time with The Signal short. Now, I have transitioned from sports into hard news and continue to inform my community at The Santa Cruz Sentinel.Outside of the newsroom, I am a down to earth person. I like to stay physically active and love to watch sports - more specifically football, baseball and hockey. Since moving to Southern California from Western Washington I have taken up surfing and also enjoy hiking and camping. I love the idea of healthy living and preserving our environment for future generations to enjoy.
