I'm an architect, designer, storyteller, and the Founder/ Creative Director of The Urban Conga, a multidisciplinary design studio that sparks community activity and social interaction through open ended play. We achieve this by working with communities to create spatial interventions, custom public spaces, and immersive environments that are inclusive, engaging, and site-specific within the built environment. My work explores the idea for play to exist in everyday spaces, and encourage people to think about these spaces that could become PLAYces: like a crosswalk, public park bench, building facade, sidewalk, bus stop, or just the everyday space in-between. Looking at how these often once boring or underutilized situations can turn into stimulating, inclusive, creative outlets for social interaction and community activity by becoming platforms for open-ended play for all demographics. Through his work, I have had opportunities to collaborate with organizations, governments and universities all around the US as well as in Australia, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria and the UK, delivering workshops, lectures, interventions, urban development plans and public policy recommendations.
