Drew and printed various test specimens with FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology. I gained a better understanding of the many applications and capabilities of 3D printing, as well as the current limitations of the technology.Beyond printing the specimens, I was involved in the testing of these specimens. These tests included: tensile, fatigue, creep, instrumented impact, etc. Testing these specimens increased my understanding of the mechanical properties and strength of the various materials that were used.

In the beginning, I worked in the Quality department and helped adjust and update the manufacturing processes to improve quality assurance. I also gained a deep understanding of the paperwork that is necessary for a manufacturing operation to be successful/possible. These documents included: work instructions, process flows, gauge instructions, quality alerts, PPAPs, etc.In the second half of my time with Select, I primarily worked as a production engineer. I helped design, manufacture, and implement several fixtures for robotic weld cells and resistance (spot) weld cells. My experience in the Quality department helped me to become a better production engineer because I was able to design with the quality of the product as my number one concern.

At LT Enterprises, I worked as a CNC machine and welding robot operator. I simply placed the raw material into a fixture, and pressed the "cycle" button. Although this type of labor is seen as "low-skilled", it still allowed me to gain exposure to the fast-paced world of manufacturing.
