Student - Technical Computer Service

West Lafayette, In

I was a student worker in Technical Computer Service in the Department of Agricultural Economics. I was responsible for general IT work and maintaining computers for approx. 200 employees. The employees did not have admin rights, and I was therefore responsible for installing the necessary updates and software, creating and installing ghosts of Windows onto new machines as well as ones that required a complete wipe, scanning for and removing viruses on infected machines, and occasionally editing group policies in an attempt to automate certain tasks.

Intern - Tactical Operations

Cisco

Research Triangle Park, Nc

I was an intern at Cisco Systems as a part of the Tactical Operations team. I helped write a program to automate the powering down and starting up volatile pieces of equipment located in the Network Emergency Response Vehicle (NERV). The program was written with a combination of PHP, HTML, and CSS to make it available as a website on the intranet. Another project I worked on was a Traveler Tracking Tool that once again combined PHP, HTML, CSS, MySQL, and Javascript to create a website that would keep business executives in contact with Cisco headquarters while traveling to destinations that have a predetermined level of risk. The final project that I worked on was the Donation Program, which involved writing testing scripts to test decommissioned routers, switches, and other hardware to ensure satisfactory performance before shipping them to the new users that had requested the devices.
