I performed a very wide range of duties. My daily duties in this position are checking in patients to be seen by the doctor and discussing why the patient is in the hospital for the day. I typed up medical records for my doctor, acted as a phlebotomist by collecting blood from the patient, assist in surgeries, acquired radiographs of the patient when necessary. Being a lead veterinary assistant I also audit doctors medical records to ensure everything was properly spelled and typed up. I also did orderings through pharmacies and laboratories to ensure we had proper stock of items and to make sure patient were able to receive the drugs they needed. I also delegated tasks as needed and helped in emergencies where ever I am needed, whether this was grabbing specific drugs and distributing them to the patient, providing oxygen flow to the patient or running laboratory tests.

As an intern for the Emergency Preparedness department at UMC I performed a wide range of duties. These duties usually were creating documents or presentations in preparations for major events going on in the city of Las Vegas to ensure if a tragic event were to happen then the hospital and our partner organizations would know what to during an emergency, including homeland security, the LVMPD, and the National Guard. Another aspect of the job would be to participate in public speaking that would be discussing action items that need to be followed up on after a table top exercise that was done between departments that possible described safety measures that should be implemented. Valuable skills that were utilized during the internship were teamwork and communication skills since I constantly had to discuss changes that needed to be made to documents, presentations, and other crucial information to ensure that the emergency preparedness department helped as many people as possible in the most efficient manner possible in case of an emergency.

As a receptionist I answered phone calls, booked stays at the resort, took payments, cleaned the facility and kept clients as happy as possible. I was cross trained in the back of the facility with monitoring play time with the dogs and monitored around 30 dogs at a time for play sessions. I also helped feed and give medications to the dogs in the facility which could be up to 100 dogs during some points in the year.
