Engineering ManagerLightningcath May 2022 - PresentMaple Grove, Minnesota, UsCo-Founder providing technical support and leadership for programs relating to interventional systems and reinforced shaft components.Day-to-day involves supporting company’s smaller R&D catheter programs; task can range from managing projects, co-developing with clients, improving the skills of my direct reports, designing components, fixturing and tooling, building prototypes, hiring talent, generating proposals, shipping product to customers, selecting suppliers, and more.Additional Information About LightningCath:Partnering with the founders of Switchback Medical and old colleagues to develop a new “spin-off” company focused in complex catheter solutions and components to help customers bring their ideas to market faster. I was specifically chosen by members of the board to grow the business from the initial start-up phase helping on the catheter design and manufacturing side.LightningCath has a strong focus in giving attention to smaller to medium sized companies/programs that the larger contract manufacturers may turn away or not prioritize. These opportunities allow our team to experiment with uncommon materials and processes giving us a wide range of experience and capabilities.Check out our website at www.lightningcath.com for more information. -

Sr. Product Development EngineerSwitchback Medical Feb 2020 - Nov 2021Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, UsFirst hired engineer to join the company. Hands-on engineer focused on high complexity interventional devices (finished devices) primarily used in structural heart procedures. Provided prototyping/design support and leadership within cross-functional team continuing work with a local medical device client on developing a feasible mitral valve chordal repair/replacement system through transseptal catheterization. With our help, the client has accomplished full procedures in animals studies, bio-simulations, and a human clinical trial to date. Accomplishments:• Offered catheter expertise within team freezing designs and releasing initial manufacturing processes for multiple catheter components used for client’s Mitral Valve therapy (June 2021) • Led team of technicians in delivering proper dual-plane steerable initial prototype catheters used in TMVR therapy for new client (April 2021)• Guided team on optimizing balloon catheter inflation time and profile for Aortic valve stent delivery device (May 2021) -
Product Development EngineerSwitchback Medical Feb 2019 - Feb 2020Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, UsFirst hired full-time engineer to join the company supporting early phase design and manufacturing of new products relating to interventional structural heart and neuro vascular systems. Worked with local client to development a concept for anchoring/locking suture from the mitral valve leaflet to the papillary muscle through transeptal catheterization (Heart Implant). Designing and rapid prototyping on a daily cadence to meet tight deadlines set by the client. Details: • Designed initial anchoring and locking concepts alongside principal level team members; prototyped many iterations by welding machined and 3D printed components together phasing out redundant concepts • Iterated and developed processes for complex braided catheter shaft with custom steering capabilities • Welded micro 3D printed and machined metal components onto HHS tubing and laser cut hypo-tubes creating complex shafts • Designed laser cut patterns onto hypo-tubes to customize flex and torque characteristics• 3D printed catheter handles and components using internal SLA 3D printers• Attended multiple bio-simulator and animal testing sessions along side client throughout the state of Minnesota• Was a key factor in acquiring multi-million dollar manufacturing contract by expressing high level catheter knowledge, work ethic, and capabilities creating new opportunities for Switchback Medical (Summer 2019)Additional Accomplishments:• Designed dye that allowed airflow between two radial bonds for catheter balloon bonding process to ensure inflation area was not melted/reflowed for device used in minimal invasive neural aspiration (Spring 2019)• Developed a deflectable sheath component for atherectomy device offering greater torsional rigidity (Summer 2019)• Worked with local neural surgeon on designing and developing a sheath to work in conjunction with commercialized product, Sofia Distal Access Catheter (Summer 2019) -
R&D/Product Development EngineerCreganna Medical Jan 2018 - Feb 2019Galway, Co. Galway, IeProvided excellent R&D services to Heart Valve client on developing and manufacturing a large capsule catheter sheath used in minimally invasive artificial heart valve delivery (Pulmonic Shaft). I led a small team consisting of technicians and operators to deliver these sheaths to the client for final assembly starting from scratch. My team and I supplied them with shafts to complete their Biocompatibility, DV&V testing, and partially through their clinical trials before resigning. More details:• Provided higher level of capability than client’s other supplier which led to acquiring a large manufacturing contract creating more opportunities for Creganna Medical• Created a robust build instruction and router• Improved kink resistance and track-ability of the shaft significantly from initial design• Improved liner lamination in ID significantly• Initiated document release of all components and tooling included in the BOM• Provided excellent customer experience in weekly calls by heading meetings and providing in depth updates • Performed IQ/OQ on a coiling machine, 2-up tipper, XY hot box, and 10-up reflow oven• Managed additional introducer sheath pilot line using the same team in parallel to the pulmonic shaft build I also led the efforts in setting up the facility's first hydrophilic coating lab within the cleanroom working with internal and external stakeholders getting all equipment approved and onto site. -
R&D/Product Development TechnicianCreganna Medical May 2017 - Dec 2017Galway, Co. Galway, Ie• Supported a pilot assembly line in manufacturing a complex deflectable catheter shaft for transeptal mitral valve therapy (Heart Valve Client) ensuring the line was running smoothly from beginning to end. Offered technical support to the line lead and operator.• Additional details - Set up new catheter rotary cutter to automate proximal end cut-to-length process - Captured photos used in the initial released build instruction - Measured critical specifications of numerous catheters for process validation (DOE) - Helped move the line from one end of the cleanroom to the other after expansion was complete - Mixed primer solution daily for the line in the mornings - Managed material kitting for build lots -
Documentation CoordinatorVascular Solutions - Now Part Of Teleflex Jun 2016 - Aug 2016• Served as the liaison between engineering and quality assurance to approve and route 5-10 change orders relating to manufacturing and inspection procedures daily using Agile software• Inputed roughly 100 routing travelers from production weekly into a centralized folder structure to ensure Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other key stakeholders could uphold traceability for each build lot -
