For three decades, I worked on what ultimately became a four book research project about the final rock and roll tour of music icons Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. During this time, I interviewed hundreds of people associated with that 1959 ill-fated tour and created a through-line which connected all of the various and sundry memories of those final and heady days of early rock music. After coming up for air on what turned out to be a book project that weighed in at over one thousand pages, I began work on a new book, this one about the Hollywood of the late 1980s and early 90s as represented by an under seen film called "Dogfight." A work that is still-in-progress, "The Fight for Dogfight" promises to be a unique project peppered with dozens of new interviews about this Nancy Savoca-directed film, with lead actor River Phoenix being the figure who ultimately anchors the entire narrative. I've also got seven years as a freelance writer under my belt, having written literally hundreds of articles on the state of the current day entertainment industry. I've also interviewed many of the key players in the world of movies, music and comic books - past and present. My breadth of knowledge on these subjects is vast - and I'm always learning more!
