I’m Ryan, and I’m a Staff/Senior Cybersecurity Professional with a proven track record in protecting businesses and users from cybersecurity threats and fraud. My passion for harnessing data analytics to reveal hidden threats and address complex security issues at scale fuels my drive to make the Internet a secure space for every user. I firmly believe that cybersecurity should be a given for the average Internet user, rather than a constant concern.I’m currently applying cybersecurity engineering and investigation principles to the Integrity and Trust and Safety space to protect minors on the world’s largest social networks. I’m deeply driven by the opportunity to work in Youth/Child safety to help protect the most vulnerable people from some of the worst harms possible. I use data to solve problems. Complex SQL is a second language to me. I truly believe that comprehensive data warehousing is one of the most powerful tools available to help protect from both cybersecurity and trust and safety threats. My past experience includes being responsible for helping protect users of the world's largest social networks from malware threats through threat hunting, massive-scale data analytics, and malware reverse engineering. I created detections to find malware using both file-based signals (e.g., YARA) and behavioral ones. I also specialize in Zeek Scripting, have contributed to the Open Source Zeek project, and have developed open source exploit detection scripts for Zeek.Additionally, I served as one of the lead architects and developers of a completely custom real-time financial fraud detection platform. My micro-service architecture design leveraged both statistical and expert models to detect fraud at scale and in real time.My programming skills include Zeek Script, Crystal, Ruby, Python, C++, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, and SQL. I have advanced knowledge of various operating systems, including Windows (Desktop and Server), GNU/Linux, and Mac OS X, with a focus on Linux/UNIX. Programming Language is no barrier.
