As the Director of Cloud, Infrastructure, and Operations at H&R Block, I lead a dynamic team of 9 specialized groups (~160 associates across the globe) that are pivotal to ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of our IT ecosystem. As Director, I oversee various teams developing, delivering, and supporting platform SaaS products with a focus on maximizing product reliability.A few key achievements in this role include:* Lead a six-member technical team to provide Kubernetes-as-a-Service to product teams. Grew the team to manage and support 51 Kubernetes clusters, 5000+ virtual machines, and 60,000+ containers in less than two years. The team is currently migrating the on-premises service tier to AWS Local Zone EKS clusters, which will increase scope by 3,000 more virtual machines and 110,000 more containers.* Expanded the platform to multiple regions across the globe including Australia, Canada, Sweden, and the United Kingdom as well as the Veteran's Health Administration and the U.S. Federal Department of Defense.* Built a new DevOps team to support a product called Seamless Exchange, that will integrate outside EHR systems, Electronic Health Information Exchanges such as CommonWell, Resonance, various Immunization Registries and sync that data into the Cerner Millennium patient record. The team developed the operational/support model from the ground up and worked closely together using the Agile development process. * Manage a large team that provides the platform architecture to provide cloud-based services to client hosted clients (CHO, hardware managed by clients in their own data center). This platform makes it possible for CHO clients to obtain the same level of service and functionality as our Cerner-hosted clients.* Specifically implemented Agile operations and methodologies to my operation teams and optimized ticket resolution by 300%.
