Aesica Pharmaceutical was taken over by Recipharm in 2020, my employment continued in the same role following this change of management - see above for further information on the role.

Operating a range of pharmaceutical machinery within a GMP environment I gained a vast and variedknowledge of the science and mechanics that are used in the compression of granule. Applying my ownknowledge of computer systems & engineering along with my willingness to learn I quickly became avery important member of the team and a person who even experienced operators and engineerswould come to seeking advice and problem solving solutions. Working hard in this role I gained thestatus of ‘compression subject matter expert’ in April 2015. My roles included fault finding and initialdiagnosis and assisting mechanical and electrical engineers in rectification work. I also took over taskson the machines such as the strip down and setup of several key machine parts that had previouslybeen deemed engineering only jobs. These skills have assisted in my progression within thedepartment and something I have continued to develop during the implementation of new productionmachinery.

Including all the same responsibilities as my machine operator role I am also tasked with vital on thespot decision making with regards to machine stoppages, shop floor labour allocation and cover.Helping ensure that the shop floor runs as smoothly as possible, I was also responsible for the updateof important documents on the shop floor and making sure everyone on my shift is doing what theyshould be and had no issues. Where required, I am also responsible for training new staff members onhow to run various machinery, including passing on knowledge I have acquired through fault finding,strip downs, setups etc. I also regularly stood in and covered my Team Leader when they were absent,ensuring that the manufacturing schedule was adhered to and that any problems were dealt with orelevated.

Stepping up from my Senior Operator role I was seconded into a Team Leader role whilst my TeamLeader was seconded into another department, unfortunately due to the site announcing its closure inMay 2023 all secondments were halted and I was required to return to my SPO role. During this time, Imanaged a team (shift) of 7 operators. My day-to-day tasks included Labour planning and allocation forthe coming weeks, schedule adherence tracking and management, operator holiday approval andreturn to work discussions following absences. I was also tasked with carrying out investigations andwriting up reports following any deviations from the approved GMP processes. I was also involved inmeetings with customers to discuss new business, shop floor capabilities and availability for upcomingwork/trials.
