Undergraduate Research Assistant, Szablowski Lab For Noninvasive Neuroengineering
Houston, Texas, United States
-Lab Assistant under Dr. Jerzy Szablowski, Manwal Harb-Evaluate feasibility of multiplexed Acoustically Targeted Chemogenetics (ATAC) using focused ultrasound for blood-brain barrier opening (FUS-BBBO) and Designer Receptors Exclusively Activated by Designer Drugs (DREADDs)- Apply lab techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, bacterial culturing, plasmid purification, immunohistochemistry, mounting/imaging/analysis of brain samples, surgical and animal handling protocols, cardiac perfusion, tissue harvesting.-Develop method for acoustically-targeted measurement of transgene expression in the brain-Implemented fringe projection profilometry (FPP) to improve calibration for focused ultrasound (FUS) in the context of blood-brain barrier disruption and spatially precise drug delivery-Managed all software components of the FPP project using C and Matlab, including programs for the fringe projection mapping, calibration of hardware, and data processing/visualization
