Completed two releases for SunGard K12s eFinancePLUS. The first project was a Service Pack to our software, this was a project to create a customizable Homepage for our users. It was mostly my responsibility along with one other developer and we used the MVC web design architecture. The code was an HTML/JavaScript front end utilizing JQuery, KnockoutJS, Twitter Bootstrap, and JqGrid libraries as well as a backend in C# using a Linq to Entity framework. This also included working together with customer sites for a beta period with installation, bugs, and also a last minute project during beta in which after completion I received an award for completing in time for users to test and to be approved for release.The second project was a complete release of our software with a larger team of developers. During this project my main goal was to learn the core software written in a procedural language, 4GL, and to learn a new release of 4js Genero Web Client which utilized web snippets/JavaScript to take the backend 4GL code and create a web interface in partial HTML5. I was in charge of modifying the CSS/snippets/JavaScript to create a pleasant as well as a working interface for the users, integrate the SP1 Homepage into the project and create a way to communicate between each piece, as well as create new features such as the new mega menu similar to Amazons. Along with learning the 4GL/Genero code I needed to learn the check in procedures in the version manager PVCS for 4GL as well as help create the teams new check in procedures for our web/Genero code which utilized Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server.

Completed two projects during the internship that were included as part of a product release cycle. The first project was the specification, certification, and development of automation of SHI supported Operating Systems (Server and Desktop) for SHI's Managed Private Cloud and Multi-tenant Cloud IaaS environments. This was accomplished using the following process: download OS, create VM, install VMware Tools, create an image, provision VM from the image via the automation layer, and validate the creation of the VM. If the VM creation failed then analyze why, design and develop code to resolve the issue, and integrate into the automation layer. Code development was performed at the OS and automation levels either in shell scripts, visual basic programs, or in HP Operations Orchestration.The second project was the design and development of an application to collect resource allocation data for each vCore in the SHI IaaS environment. Resource allocation data is collected at the VM (vCPU, memory, storage space, network), vDistributed Switch (Port Group, Port), ESX Host, and Datastore level and rolled up to the VMware datacenter level within each vCore. This involved learning the VMware VI API architecture, designing Configuration Items in the UCMDB, writing java OO libraries that used the VI APIs to collect the data, writing OO flows that automated the data collection, processing the collected data, and insertion of the collected data into the UCMDB.

Worked in Quality Assurance testing SHI’s Infrastructure as a Service solution that was set to be launched in September 2011. Designed and developed Visual Basic scripts in Quick Test professional to test the portal. Created “how to” documents, and helped with overall IaaS documentation.

Helped students get connected to Penn State Berks' wireless network through a VPN client. Administered the loaning of laptops, answered phone-calls, and helped resolve IT issues students or faculty would have in their dorms and classrooms.
