Key role in development of innovative program for families building early literacy skills in at-risk neighborhoods throughout Columbus, including daily operation of outreach Bookmobile. My purpose was to connect people, share resources, and inspire primary caregivers in nurturing preliteracy from infancy through preschool to improve early childhood and future community outcomes. I was a primary contact point for partner agencies and a variety of organizations. I balanced site visits, community events, meetings, trainings, and additional responsibilities. I developed an active working knowledge and maintained a 5,000+ picture book collection. I recruited families to meet with Ready for Kindergarten Specialists for practice and assessments. I promoted library resources at events, community festivals, and dozens of service agencies across the city, including Columbus Urban League. I input data regularly to help tell the story of our work’s impact. Finally, I served as our department's Developmental Assets Ambassador, learning about and discussing the positive supports and strengths that young people need to succeed.
