Representing the Arizona Department of Public Safety before the Arizona Legislature and other policymaking bodies to advise leadership on proposed policy changes. This includes connecting policymakers with Department experts and expertise on topics including but not limited to:1. Patrol of state highways.2. Enforcement of commercial vehicle laws.3. Anti-terrorism actions undertaken by the state.4. The operations of the State Crime Lab.5. The maintenance of critical criminal justice databases such as fingerprinting, background history and DNA.6. Aerial support for law enforcement and search and rescue operations.7. Building and maintenance of the radio communications network for multiple public safety agencies in the state.8. Enforcement of state laws against organized crime, narcotics trafficking and gangs.

Downtown Voices Coalition advocates for policies and projects that align with the community plans it has helped create since 2004 for a vibrant, diverse downtown Phoenix.Steering Committee Members utilize their particular skills to advance the organization's interests. Urban Phoenix Project is the leading urbanist group within America's fifth largest city. Urban Phoenix Project engages with the City of Phoenix and local stakeholders to push for a City that is comfortable to walk, bike or ride transit as it is to drive. This includes working on transit, transportation and development projects in central Phoenix.Duties as the Director of Communications include:1. Operating social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the organization.2. Testimony before various City of Phoenix Boards, Commissions and Council meetings on behalf of the organization.3. Overseeing, alongside other Board members, the operations of the organization.4. Coordinating the interview and endorsement process for the organization.5. Monitoring City of Phoenix projects and effectively advocating for the organization's interests in those projects.

Designed, coordinated and implemented the Maricopa County Assessor's communications plan for diverse constituencies.1. Ran Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Responded to and engages with constituents on both platforms. Expanded Facebook audience by a factor of six, doubled followers on Twitter and launched the LinkedIn page.2. Responded to public records requests.3. Connected media inquiries with requested documents and subject matter experts at the Assessor's Office or refers inquiries to appropriate offices. 4. Crafted and advocated for the Assessor's Office legislative agenda involving the Arizona property tax system and often involving Titles 42 and 48 of the Arizona Revised Statutes.5. Worked with other government agencies to respond to legislative inquiries regarding issues such as Conservation Easements and the eligibility requirements of the Senior Valuation Protection program.

Advocated on behalf of SB1207 recognizing Assessor professional education and guided it through unanimous passage out of the Senate. Began work with stakeholders to secure future passage.4. Maintained an active social media presence increasing likes on Facebook by 64 percent and followers on Twitter by 11 percent. Engaged with numerous constituents to answer questions over both platforms.5. Wrote press releases and award bids highlighting technical achievements of the office for both the public and more technical audiences.

1. Researched and wrote 23 columns summarizing downtown Phoenix specializing on complex government policies and civic engagement.2. Attended neighborhood association and special interest group meetings and took notes and audio recordings to provide updates to fellow staff. Further edited the notes to provide executive summaries for leadership.3. Provided a weekly report of pitches gathered from City of Phoenix, Maricopa Association of Governments, State of Arizona and community group agendas, social media postings and websites.4. Trained staff in public records requests and open meeting law.5. Edited for grammatical correctness as well as fact checking articles.6. Litigated and won relief from the Associated Students of Arizona State University Supreme Court regarding open meetings violations by the Undergraduate Student Government of Downtown hosting closed Senate Caucus meetings for deliberative purposes.

1. Supervised a staff of four brand new positions. Additionally, aided in the creation of new job descriptions for 16 intern positions and 12 officer positions.2. Monitored agendas and press releases from the City of Phoenix, Maricopa Association of Governments, Arizona Board of Regents, and State Legislature of Arizona and identified items of interests to students.3. Sent weekly updates breaking down major actions, potential consequences and calls to actions to Student Governments at the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and Arizona State University.4. Lobbied on behalf of students before the City of Phoenix, Arizona Board of Regents and State Legislature of Arizona using student government resolutions, calls and emails, and scheduled meetings with policymakers.5. Researched various legal issues including the legality of guns on public university campuses, how voter initiatives are protected from repeal or amendment by the State Legislature, and how the university budgeting process works and taught other staff members about these issues. 6. Lead a voter registration initiative that registered 950 students on a campus of 11,000 students compared to 125 students the year before.7. Began an investigation into the usage of an iCourse fee that is now an ongoing issue as the fee was not being assessed for the same reasons across the University and there were significant claims of the fee wasting student money. 8. Helped re-establish statewide partnerships between Student Governments at the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University and Arizona State University and have set plans for a Statewide Lobbying Day.9. Litigated and won relief from the Associated Students of Arizona State University Supreme Court over the student government disregarding its constitution mandate to post minutes of an executive meeting.

Elected Chair of the Government Operations Committee overseeing the work of four peers and myself focusing on accountability and reorganization through Bylaw and structural reformation, oversight of government activities to ensure quality, conducting hiring interviews and advising sanctions and removal of members when appropriate.2. Organized and circulated a petition that received 844 signatures in 3 days in coordination with a letter writing campaign to ASU President Michael Crow, social media campaign, a student government resolution, and negotiated with the Office of the University Architect to keep a beloved community art project, the “In My Life I Will” Wall in the UCENT Lobby.3. Organized an ASU student campaign against parking meter rate and hour increases proposed by the City of Phoenix Council through public testimony and letter writing that won us a seat at the table.4. Negotiated with City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department to satisfy student needs in the area immediately around campus in regards to the parking meters and fixed over 40 broken streetlights.5. Serving on the Budget Allocations Committee to continue to teach Students how to access University benefits and support Student Organizations.6. Authored, sponsored, gathered support for and passed 21 bills and 5 resolutions. Legislation dealt with professionalizing the organization, supporting community arts projects, setting out conditions for USGD support for tuition hikes and reformatting the Bylaws of the organization.7. Organized, within 24 hours, a march of around 50 students to the Capitol that garnered news attention to the $99 million that was cut from Arizona Public Universities in the State budget.8. Learned and teaches Robert's Rules of Order.

Wrote and ratified the Constitution of the College of Public Programs Council.Expanded the College of Public Programs Council from 8 constituent organizations to 12.Created partnerships with 9 additional student organizations.Organized and hosted 8 meetings.Oversaw the implementation of 4 projects including a public art project, hosting an Oxfam Hunger Banquet, co-hosting the Cinderella Dress Drive, and creating a forum with the Dean of the College of Public Programs.Successfully proposed 4 amendments to the Constitution.Oversaw the successful election of 3 new officers for the 2014-2015 Academic Year.Transitioned leadership to the next team with a first-ever transitional document and meetings.
