About Ryan Arruda
Rhode Island-born graphic designer, art director, writer, and community wrangler currently staking his claim in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In previous adventures, I built community with the incredible team at Dribbble, taking on projects big and small—including authoring content, hosting design challenges, facilitating design workshops, and emceeing events, from the small screen of Instagram Live, to the Hammerstein Ballroom stage hosting Hang Time NYC. I also spent seven years content strategizing, writing, and art directing projects and promotions at MyFonts for Monotype, working hand in hand with the type and design community.Having been designing for over a decade now, after-hours I continue cook up design just for the sport of it, be it type and image compositions, or other design-related personal projects such as Vernacular Circles (VernacularCircles.com)—my growing online archive of mid-century typographic advertising design. I'm also the co-founder of Bay State Design Shop, a growing community where New England-area designers come together to talk shop, share resources, lend feedback and learn from one other. I received my M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2010, while having previously earned an undergraduate degree in film studies from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts in 2006.
