Nimble Therapeutics is a spin-out from Roche where we use NimbleGen's core technology for making DNA microarrays and instead make peptide arrays for applications like drug discovery.

Responsible for leading analysis activities to support new and existing products. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of statistical and computational techniques to potential inventions, products and problems. Translate customer wants into product requirementsServing as bioinformatic technical lead for new analysis softwareLead meetings, identify action items, and follow up as needed to assist with development activities(Also still performing many of the tasks of Scientist II below)

Working with the R&D informatics team to develop new technologies and support improvements to existing products. Analyzed NGS data using a variety of pipelinesTested new NGS analysis software as part of the HEAT-Seq targeted enrichment product releaseWrite and execute test plans, change orders, and change requests as needed Work with diverse groups on project teams

Functioned as group leader during manager absences. Worked with R&D scientists to complete several complex and difficult projects. Monitored the order queue to ensure proper assignment of incoming orders. Trained new associate scientist on current bioinformatic practices and customer interactions. Developed code to help support new products, a process that involved discussions and troubleshooting with R&D, software, and IT departments.

Worked with customers to refine and complete Sequence Capture, CGH, Expression, ChIP-chip, Methylation, and Comparative Genome Sequencing designs. Assembled and processed customer-provided sequence and gene annotation for use in custom designs. Authored and edited many of the Standard Operating Procedures and checklists that are currently used by the group. Maintained comprehensive notes for the creation of each design. Executed test plans to aid in product launches.

Did computational / bioinformatic work in a X-ray crystallography lab. The first 5 years were all in silico, but then I spent the last year at the bench putting some of the predictions in practice. Developed and used a sequence-based method to improve the thermal stability of an enzyme. Used X-ray crystallography to determine the structure of the mutated enzymes and draw further conclusions.Also did several smaller projects involving data mining the Protein Data Bank.
