Awarded a Dartmouth NIH-COBRE fellowship and a Bowdoin INBRE fellowship in the realm of machine learning applied to bioinformatics. Multiple sequence alignment is the algorithm usually used to analyze similarities in DNA sequences, however it does not account for sequence shuffling; sometimes DNA is shuffled around during horizontal gene transfer or horizontal regulatory transfer in prokaryotes. Sequence shuffling makes comparing DNA a difficult computational problem.Developed and implemented (C++) an evolutionary algorithm to compare sequences of DNA by comparing smaller localized patterns to analogous sequences in order to account for sequence shuffling. The end result was a program that identified conservation in sequences where conservation was not found by multiple sequence alignment.

Developed C# software to streamline the key loading process for the MADL Ground Test Set. The software manipulates the cryptographic key files based on date and location. MADL Ground Test Set exercises the secure data link capabilities of the F-35.Developed a multi-threaded message abstraction layer that runs between PC application and a custom message router. The program uses standard UDP to communicate with PC based clients and a custom API package to communicate with the message router. This program reduces the time to develop applications that interface to the message router by several weeks.
