I am a journalism student who can lead well, think critically, write clearly, and interact professionally. Through a classical education and one-on-one instruction with published authors, I developed the skills of critical thinking and clear writing, which I used to win the Most Effective Attorney award in my high school mock trial. As a college student, I have applied these fundamentals to analyses of the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and the role of the media in the United States. I have also started adding the hands-on skills of everyday journalism, such as data evaluation and Internet research, to these basics.Besides my academic and practical acumen, I also have the ability to lead, collaborate, and interact in a professional manner through my time in customer service. I led Axum Coffee's farmers' market tent, where I spearheaded event setup and teardown, collaborated with fellow employees, served and interacted with customers professionally, and resolved customer issues. As a journalist, I can now bring all three types of abilities – fundamental, practical, and personal – to any organization I report for.
