During my roughly two-and-a-half year tenure at UC Santa Cruz's campus paper I worked first as a reporter, and then became City Editor. In both capacities I wrote and researched stories on topics ranging from local politics to Egypt's 2011 revolution to UCSC lecturer Benjamin Lozano's research on the intersection of financial derivatives and postmodern philosophy.As City Editor I oversaw between two and three reporters at any given time, assigning and editing their stories and coaching them on developing every aspect of their journalistic skills. I also worked with the other editors in producing the paper and making sure that all aspects of the organization ran smoothly.
