Wrote and edited for the Monitor from Boston, Oxford, and Johannesburg, with a special focus on African current affairs.

One-year fellowship to South Africa, where I researched and wrote the manuscript for my first book ("A Native of Nowhere: The Life of South African Journalist Nat Nakasa, 1937-1965"), which was published by Jacana Media in September 2013. I also produced freelance news pieces in the Chronicle of Higher Education and the Mail & Guardian (South Africa).
