Utilized IOC's PI server to perform various QAQC tasks.

• Summer research project involved testing the impact resistance of polyurea coated plates. Tested several different polyureas on aluminum and steel substrates of various thicknesses. Aluminum and polymer foams were also studied as intermediate layers between the substrate and polyurea layers.• After an initial introduction to the equipment, lab and experimental work was conducted unsupervised, complimented by routine collaboration with supervisor.• Produced one formulation of polyurea in-house.• Developed test matrices for the impact experiments. Over one hundred and thirty individual specimens were made and tested.• Developed an Excel database to easily sort through and find any specimens tested throughout the summer.

Responsibilities included developing a PFD to easily represent multiple complicated P&IDs, field walks to select key pipelines, and collecting stream composition and flow data.• Modeled data taken from refinery streams in HYSYS for accurate representation under various operating conditions.• Conducted various hydraulic calculations to size piping and in-line instrumentation.• Participated in Irving’s ‘Better Way’ program by submitting proposals for continuous improvement of refinery operation. Prepared reports outlining potential upgrades for income generating projects.• Contributed to a ‘Safe Sample Point’ project by coordinating field walks for equipment verification. Was responsible for updating and maintaining the sample point database which catalogued over five hundred refinery sample points.
