Ryan works with select Chicago-based organizations as an independent consultant. He provides strategic direction and technical advisory services for companies across a wide ranges of industries. Ryan possesses a broad and fundamental understanding of technology coupled with a pragmatic approach to digital product development.

Continuing to build on his already extensive international portfolio, Ryan moved to London and took on a technical leadership role for a major academic publishing company. Initially tasked with building a hybrid user interface for a complex product migration, Ryan’s responsibilities eventually included client relationship management, product evangelism, and recruiting and vetting full-time employees on behalf of the client.

Returning to Chicago, Ryan began working on a next-generation assessment system for a mid-market education company. Initially focused on back-end development, Ryan eventually took on responsibility for front-end development before taking over technical project leadership and Amazon Web Services-based infrastructure automation. Ryan then took on a role as an international liaison for a global consumer electronics company, coordinating development, integration, and project management activities across four continents and six cities.

Adding to his experience as a software developer, Ryan began working in Melbourne, Australia as an technical Agile coach and facilitator for a major private telecommunications company. Ryan then returned to Sydney and moved on to a major public network services provider, where he began focusing on customer-facing interface development. He then moved on to building the company’s core service portal, enabling network service providers to create virtual connections on top of physical infrastructure.

As a software development consultant at ThoughtWorks, Ryan began to develop his brand as a leading front-end developer. After building a foreign tax compliance system for a multi-national conglomerate and prototyping new interfaces for a wealth management organization, Ryan took on responsibility for user interface development at a major international airline. Working in Chicago, Dallas, and Porto Alegre, Brazil, Ryan built and tested interfaces for multiple products, including flights, cars, hotels, and ancillary services, in addition to finalizing the revamped loyalty program’s new look and interface.
