I am fortunate to live in a small mountain community above Silicon Valley, where tech meets nature, because this is a perfect description of my life. I am just as much at home building cloud infrastructure and firewalls as I am chopping wood and picking up lizards to show my son. Scouting taught me about nature and teamwork but it was in my second grade class that I found my passion for technology while re-seating cards in an Apple IIe to fix the classroom computer.With nearly 20 years of experience in the field of Information Technology, I bring to a team an in-depth knowledge of Network Infrastructure, Data and Network Security, and IT Systems Administration that only those years in the field can bring. Through my experience I have learned to diagnose and troubleshoot problems across the board, from rolling out large scale hardware and software implementations to finding, diagnosing and resolving security breaches. I am also knowledgeable and experienced in Cybersecurity, forensics, penetration testing, network design, Linux/Unix administration, virtualization, programming and desktop support. I am a life-long learner and am consistently expanding my knowledge through continued education. Currently, in my spare time, I have been working with a community of Linux users on a GUI project, using Python and GTK, to simply and easily download and install a variety of different browsers for our growing Linux distribution. This will allow new users of the platform to get the software they need without knowing terminal commands. My other hobbies include camping, mountain biking, exploring new eateries, audio production, home improvement projects, playing video games with my son, and traveling. My family recently had the opportunity to spend 5 months traveling across the United States in our small travel trailer while I was completing a remote Cybersecurity Boot-camp through UC Davis. Our adventure not only took us to beautiful places like the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall and many National Parks, it took us through places so rich in history and culture that it truly changed our understanding and appreciation of the hard work and sacrifices made by those before us to build our country into what it is today. More importantly, it also brought an awareness of the work still to be done. Being born and raised in California, traveling slowly through the South and through the heart of the civil rights movement was especially eye-opening.
