Chemical engineer focused on industrial bioprocessing process development from conceptual design through startup and commissioning. We figure out what will work, how to build it, and the best way to run it. From a robust process simulation, we develop detailed P&IDs and equipment sizing, perform rigorous safety analyses/PHAs, and provide total installed cost estimates to build a system that is operable and maintainable for the life of the plant. My primary markets are sustainable proteins/foods/products, biofuels/chemicals, and renewable natural gas (RNG/biogas).I love the challenge of a new process or technology, so bring it on! I've processed dextrose, woodchips, algae, manure, plastics, municipal sludges, grasses, sorghum, stillage, and other industrial byproducts into meat proteins, protein materials, fuels, specialty chemicals, biochar, biogas, animal protein, and other neutraceuticals. The processes have involved fermentation, pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal liquefaction, hydrolysis, acid pretreatment, hydrotreating, catalytic conversion, DSP, molten salts and many more. Finally, I was the process safety manager, operations support, and maintenance crew for an advanced ethanol recovery plant at the MillerCoors brewery in Golden, CO.
