    • Elucidate and biosynthesize Taxol in E. coli.Demonstrated up to g/L scale production of Taxadiene and Taxadien-5a-ol production in bioreactor using E. coli. Engineered and optimized the transmembrane region of P450s resulted in the production of hydroxylated taxadiene that are not found in nature and could be used as potential anti-cancer drug candidates.• Microbial production of renewable monoethylene glycol(MEG).Demonstrated a single-step bioprocess to convert plant-derived carbohydrates into renewable MEG, a commodity chemical typically derived from fossil fuels for applications such as plastic packaging, polyester fabric, and antifreeze. In this work, novel metabolic pathways were engineered into E. coli for MEG biosynthesis using various sugars.
