Ryan K. Email and Phone Number
Hello! I'm Ryan, a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in Bioengineering. My dream is to help as many people live happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives, all while exploring my passions in robotics, biochemistry, and sports medicine. My favorite facet of engineering is tackling a large problem one small step at a time, overcoming challenges you thought were impossible at the start. In my free time, you'll find me cooking or enjoying a scenic hike. I also love skiing and baseball. Go Dodgers!

Principal Engineering InstructorRobolabs Jul 2023 - PresentDublin, California, United StatesAiming to increase the number of teams qualified for the VEX World Championships over the next 2 seasons by improving onboarding and introducing engineering tactics to reduce iteration time.• Coordinated with University of California, Berkeley to organize and host One World VEX Robotics Showcase, the largest VEX Robotics competition held in the Bay Area. Over 120 participating teams, including international representatives from Mexico and Kazakstan. • Spearheading adoption of the engineering design cycle to establish foundational decision-making skills.• Utilized decision matrices to determine design of optimal end-manipulator; selected design achieved a top 5 finish out of 100 participating teams.• Leveraging fishbone diagrams and other root cause analysis techniques to reduce downtime when encountering design failure/underperformance.• Improving PID control protocols, improving tuning/adjustment speed by analyzing error graphs and focusing on minimizing time to objective. -
Operations ManagerMagikid Robotics Lab Mar 2020 - Aug 2021Studio City, CaInspired our next-generation engineers to collaborate, think creatively, and stay curious by:• Designing a complete curriculum that introduced basic engineering concepts in fun, engaging ways for elementary and middle school students, such as:• Leveraging hands-on learning to teach mechanical advantage and gear ratios. Challenged teams of elementary and middle school students to apply their knowledge to lift a 5lb weight using a single LEGO motor.• Exploring the many different ways to get something higher! Analyzed various real-world examples (scissor lifts, pulley/chain lifts, four bar linkages, etc.) and guided students in building a lifting platform, allowing their LEGO minifigure to rescue their friends trapped in a burning building.
