As the Vice President of Autonomous Vehicle Deployment and Supply Chain at Local Motors, I am responsible for not only the sourcing, procurement, and logistics involved with the production of Olli, but for the successful deployment of our vehicles at each customer location. As Purchasing Manager at Local Motors, I was brought in to create and implement standard purchasing processes and procedures for a rapidly growing start-up with a very loose, unpredictable environment. I created divisional requisition/spend processes that empowered managers to monitor their project spend in real-time, enabled the logging of transactions at a line level, allowed tracking of spend against approved budgets, and harnessed unauthorized purchasing activities. These processes rolled over into the creation of an adhoc WMS system and a standardization of all warehousing processes. The logic of this system has become the backbone of the ERP system.Outside of structural improvements, I was able to improve supplier quality and create the beginning of standardized BOMs for all production products. This has lead to tighter inventory management and the ability to forecast need on a part consumption basis. Over this time, my team has grown from two to five direct reports and has encompassed the activities of procurement, financial budget management, supplier development, warehousing, receiving, inbound and outbound logistics, order fulfillment, property maintenance, and real estate transactions. In this role I was responsible for spend of $10M across three company locations.
