Program Director - Developer Experience
CurrentAs a member of our Developer Experience team I play a vital role in shaping a productive and efficient engineering organization. Through workshops, feedback, code review, and one-to-one conversations, I gain insights into the challenges that our engineering teams face. This knowledge empowers me, and the Developer Experience team as a whole, to offer targeted support to promote a productive and sustainable culture across our engineering organization. Through my focus on the Developer Apprenticeship Program, I foster new talent growth by providing an internal pathway into core engineering roles, offering clear career paths and facilitating transitions to full-time engineering positions, enabling apprentices to have long-term success in new roles.* Led Code Review Workshops across Automattic, involving 180+ participants and 45 workshops to help engineers refine their review processes, ultimately improving the quality and reliability of shipped code.* Introduced Learning Hours, an initiative that promotes intentional learning with peer accountability. This has been adopted by other teams and fosters an environment where engineers dedicate time for upskilling and professional development.* Spearheaded Engineer Onboarding alongside stakeholders, establishing a structured, efficient onboarding experience that helps new engineers integrate into their teams quickly and productively.* Developed Universal Onboarding Surveys, consolidating multiple onboarding processes to ensure consistency while maintaining flexibility for individual divisions.* Built cross-team collaboration through initiatives that foster learning and shared expertise, helping teams across the company share insights, build new skills, and improve overall morale.* Directly contributed to Automattic’s mission of delivering a more accessible, reliable web by equipping engineers with the skills and processes necessary to ship consistently high-quality code.
