I’ve been drawn to technology and community as long as I can remember. I learned the ropes of web development by digging into Open Source software as a kid, which laid the foundation for my career today. I'm passionate about using my experience to help others build the skills and confidence that allows them to do work they can be proud of.Nowadays, I help create an environment where engineers can grow, collaborate, and ship high-quality code reliably and to democratize opportunity within the tech industry. I do this by proactively creating and fostering growth and development opportunities and by providing targeted support for engineers and engineering teams at their time of need.In my current role, I focus on supporting and building our internal engineering organization of more than 500 engineers across many teams, functions, and levels of experience and expertise. I focus on initiatives that improve the way teams work together, whether through fostering best practices in code review, establishing structured learning programs, or optimizing onboarding experiences for new engineers. I have consistently introduced and led Developer Experience initiatives, resulting in a more effective and productive engineering team and culture. My problem-solving skills, genuine care for people, and ability to identify improvement opportunities have driven innovation and excellence across the organization, enhancing our capability to deliver top-tier products and services to our customers.Additionally, through my focus on our Developer Apprenticeship Program, I've helped to build an internal pathway into core engineering roles, facilitating transitions to full-time engineering positions and enabling apprentices-turned-engineers to have long-term success in their new careers. I am passionate about the future of work and building a diverse, high-performing, and sustainable workforce and am incredibly proud of this unique program.With over a decade of experience at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, and other popular products, I have honed my skills in developing and refining internal programs and processes to support our engineers. I have regularly facilitated workshops on various topics, from code review to intentional learning, conducted comprehensive testing and troubleshooting, proposed and led new ideas to build our organization, created clear and helpful documentation, and collaborated with cross-functional stakeholders to shape a productive and efficient engineering organization.
