When he became a full time employee in 2000, his responsibilities expanded to include other legislative and political research areas.In 2004, Derek was given the sole responsibility for the party's voter file, a database of 13 million registered voters and their past election history.In 2008, he was given the responsibility of leading the party's staff in preparations for the Republican Party of Texas State Convention, a political event attended by thousands of delegates, alternates, guests, and media.
