I am a seasoned software engineer in the insurance industry with expert-level depth of knowledge in many areas of the Microsoft stack including (but not limited to) C#, .NET Core, EF Core, WPF, RESTful APIs, and SQL Server. With nearly a decade of experience under my belt, I have been an integral part of the growth and success of every team on which I have collaborated. These successes range from highly-complex analyses and fixes for mission-critical bugs, major performance overhauls of inefficient legacy products and services, and even large-scale design, architecture, and development of a new, flexible back-end infrastructure. As I have grown professionally, I have endeavored to be a mentor to more junior developers, setting up a formal, weekly development workshop for co-ops and new hires which has directly contributed to their own success. My passion and dedication for software development goes even deeper than the workplace. With a major in Game Development and Simulation Programming, I have also spent years pursuing game development as a hobby and I am currently in the process of building a networked game in Unity.Everyone I have worked with will tell you that there are few people as analytical, driven, and capable as myself and it is that same talent and skill that I will utilize to bring success to any organization I am a part of.Email: RDB1992@verizon.netProfile: https://www.facebook.com/TGHStudios

Business Intelligence Developer IiiFm Global Sep 2022 - PresentJohnston, Rhode Island, Us -
Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead (Microsoft Stack)Fm Global Apr 2021 - Sep 2022Johnston, Rhode Island, UsStepping into a more senior-level "SME" role by increasing depth of understanding throughout the Microsoft stack and the Engineering business domain. Began nurturing a leadership role by offering mentoring to team members, co-ops, and new hires. Continuing to expand and formalize this by starting a mentoring workshop for co-ops, new hires, and those in need of up-skilling. For most recent project, conceived, architected, and built an entirely new back-end infrastructure for the “Equipment Predisposed” product. This design leverages cutting-edge, modern technologies including .NET Standard and Entity Framework Core as well as advanced features of .NET to take advantage of “writing once and running for many.” The code is able to perform typical CRUD operations as well as historical data archiving on data across all business domains within the Engineering Portfolio. It achieves this without the need to add any additional resource-specific repository or persistence code, leading to large savings in cost and complexity in standing-up new APIs and laying the foundation for future engineering initiatives. -
Software Engineer (Microsoft Stack)Fm Global Apr 2019 - Apr 2021Johnston, Rhode Island, UsBegan expanding role and responsibilities in the Engineering Systems product space by moving from the 'application developer' job family to the 'software engineering' job family. Most notable contribution in this role was a re-write of the reporting module in our flagship engineering system. The re-write eliminated critical memory leaks by replacing over 100 instances of third-party Telerik controls with a lightweight, embedded WebView page utilizing HTML and 'vanilla' JavaScript. The solution leveraged runtime components in UWP and a custom-built event architecture to marshal data from the core Windows application into the WebView and receive events out of it. The end result was a reporting module that was visually and functionally identical to the end user, but which cut down the run time for report generation from around 5 minutes to 2 seconds on average.Past projects include development and testing of new features across the full stack and spanning multiple engineering systems.Specific technical experience includes: - Authoring views and controls using WPF and UWP. - Writing web-based components using Angular, Typescript, JavaScript, HTML, and the HTML canvas. - Building and maintaining RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core and Swagger - Building and enhancing server-side repository and business logic layers using C#, LINQ, .NET Core, ADO.NET, and Entity Framework Core. - Designing and implementing temporal OLTP data store using SQL Server, DDL, Views and Stored Procedures. - Writing robust and expandable unit tests using xUnit. -

Worked primarily within the back-end, business logic, and API layers for the first year, then moved on to the UI layer, gaining experience with desktop development using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Universal Windows Platform (UWP).Transitioned from Waterfall methodology to Agile and gained experience over the next few years in Scrum and technologies such as Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD technologies including Octopus. -
Contractor (Analytical Reporting And Sql Query Development)Fm Global Jan 2015 - Mar 2015Johnston, Rhode Island, UsContinued building on previous experience within the Engineering Reporting Solutions team at FM Global. Began working on additional projects and assuming new responsibilities. Primary job involved authoring and optimizing reports by writing, analyzing, and tuning stored procedures to maximize performance. In many instances, I leveraged my understanding of set theory and SQL query optimization to write analytical stored procedures which drastically reduced the redundancy and complexity of auto-generated Cognos queries, allowing most 'book of business' management reports to run in under 5 minutes as opposed to several hours, eliminating the need for the user to 'fire and forget' the report request while awaiting it via email delivery. Additional responsibilities included facilitating database changes for a major engineering software update, writing SQL scripts to test ETL processes, and building dashboard visuals using Power BI. -
Information Services Co-Op (.Net And Analytical Reporting)Fm Global Jun 2014 - Dec 2014Johnston, Rhode Island, UsRecruited and onboarded during last semester of Bachelor's degree. Worked on the Engineering Reporting Solutions team, initially responsible for fixing a backlog of over a dozen bugs for a reference data viewer application written in .NET. Once these bugs were resolved, moved into the analytical reporting space, writing and maintaining reports for operations and senior management groups utilizing IBM's Cognos Report Studio and the Cognos Framework Manager tool. Analyzed, transformed, and presented engineering data by writing stored procedures and other queries for multiple SQL Server databases using SQL Server Management Studio. Developed a Power BI dashboard for visually representing usage of the aforementioned reference data viewer which became a critical deciding factor for management to retire the viewer application.
