    I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined Uptycs.com, a ~50 person startup in Waltham. It’s an 4 year old company that’s built an awesome enterprise security analytics solution on top of Facebook open source (osquery, Presto, React) as well as a few non-FB Apache projects (Kafka, Docker, nginx, and more). It checks a bunch of the boxes I still had unchecked in my "stuff to learn on sabbatical" category, specifically how to build software for and to manage large cloud deployments on AWS, GCE, and Azure, as well as gives me an opportunity to take what I know about FB internal tools and learn how it maps onto the open source equivalents. I knew that pretty much any future job (unless I went to another FAANG) would be building in the cloud, not building cloud-hosting infra, so here’s my chance to nudge myself up the stack a bit and learn about current industry standard tools. Plus, it’s a startup, so I get to do a bit of everything, including having a brand new office to decorate!
