Ryan Eanes is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations of the Klein College of Media & Communication, Temple University. Since joining the Klein faculty in 2019, he has spearheaded the development and direction of ADV 3007 Psychology of Advertising, an active, applied, hands-on course that aims to broaden students' knowledge of psychological principles that are directly applicable to advertising and marketing practices.Though his responsibilities are primarily instructional, Dr. Eanes continues to conduct research; his areas of interest, while wide-ranging, broadly focus on consumer attitudes and opinions towards and about brands, particularly when these beliefs coalesce into brand communities--or anti-brand communities, which drive "brand hate." He is also interested in better understanding artifacts created by consumption behaviors, as well as the interplay of space/place, privacy, consumption, and sociality. His first book, "Insightful Branding: People-Centric Tactics for Building Brands," is expected to be released by Kendall Hunt Publishing in 2022.Before coming to academia full time, Dr. Eanes accrued nearly a decade of professional experience as a producer & account manager for Bill Me, Inc., a private media management company in New York City. This wide-ranging role demanded knowledge of, and cultivation of relationships within, cable television networks, social media platforms, e-commerce and fulfillment firms, publishing houses, and software development agencies, among others. This experience left Dr. Eanes with a breadth of industry knowledge that he eagerly shares with his students. Dr. Eanes also actively maintains connections to, and knowledge of, the field of applied marketing research. He is one of less than a few dozen professionals worldwide to have earned the Insights Association's Master-level Insights Professional Certification (IPC), and he also serves as Co-Director of New Professionals for the Central Atlantic regional chapter of the Insights Association.Dr. Eanes lives in Philadelphia with Hiro, his loyal "woolly" Shiba Inu. In his free time, he will most likely be found in his spare bedroom-turned-makerspace, probably tinkering with electronic sculpture projects, making homemade soap, or staring at something under the microscope.
