I am a Master's candidate of Chemistry attending Montana State University, and I aspire to be a synthetic chemist for the discovery and synthesis of novel pharmaceuticals towards bacterial eradication. Pharmaceutical synthesis fascinates me, because of discovering the unknown and expanding horizons on the field of organic chemistry, and I love to share my interests in organic chemistry, as well as synthetic chemistry.I first chose to study Chemistry (Forensics Emphasis) at Northern Arizona University, because of my interest in solving cases and performing chemical techniques. I switched my emphasis from Forensics to Biochemistry, because I grew a deeper interest in a laboratory setting for the discovery of pharmaceuticals and novel drugs to fight bacterial infections. I achieved earning my Bachelor's of Science with a 4.0 GPA, earning prestigious awards like the Nancy & Wettaw Award for Organic Chemistry, and the Julia McAlister Award for being a top graduate of my class.I am prolific at purification and workup techniques for organic chemistry, and can conduct experiments safely and efficiently. Due to these skills, I have earned a spot in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at MSU in the 2019 - 2020 academic year. I have the ability to adapt to difficult situations, which is evident in my career at Montana State University. Near the end of my first year, my original principal investigator (PI) got fired, which forced me to switch to a new PI, and a new project altogether. Within that second year, I had to switch projects again, and after that project switch, my results soared and have practically progressed towards my Master's degree within a year.Throughout my final year at NAU and my whole career at MSU, I have been a lab associate for my professors, and jointly took the responsibility of being a lab supervisor for multiple undergraduate labs. These experiences have taught me the importance of time management, cooperation and teamwork with fellow colleagues, and leadership for guiding students towards the best success they can achieve.As a graduate in Organic Chemistry, I aspire to be a pharmaceutical chemist, synthesizing novel drugs and classes of medicines for the eradication of bacterial infections and development of treatments towards diseases, such as tuberculosis and various forms of cancer. I hope to make a difference by offering new ideas, cooperating with others for projects, and publish multiple papers and patents for my future company.
