A few years ago, I started my journey towards obtaining a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The experiences that I shared along the way not only deepened my knowledge and skill set but inspired an appreciation for the broader impact that engineering and research make on the world.As a Researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, I utilize a wide variety of experimental techniques to validate computational fire models while gaining an appreciation for conducting research at the Federal level. While working as an Engineering Student in the Combustion and Energy Research Laboratory, I combined combustion and material science analytical approaches to developing technologies that could revolutionize the current energy infrastructure. During my time in Japan as an International Scholar, I led a collaborative effort to compare experimental and computational methodologies while recognizing the importance of cultural understanding between people of different backgrounds. I am always looking for opportunities to grow as a leader in my research and engineering community and very excited for the new experiences the lie ahead.
