My role involves setting up a young, energetic and ambitious design team focused on developing next generation downhole completion tools to meet the growing demand in the oil & gas industry. The team will focus on simple innovations that can lead to out-sized impacts, with ease of demonstration (proof-of-concept) as a key target.Key deliverables:1. Secure industry certifications to enhance the Enecal brand through quality management.2. Restructure product line and focus on developing suitable products to penetrate targeted markets.3. Direct investment towards efficient enhancement of R&D test facilities and product line expansion.4. Initiate and grow a patent portfolio to ensure intellectual property security.5. •Development and customization of upstream oil & gas, downhole completion products•Review and verify design package (engineering drawings, bill of material, design specification datasheets, calculation package,layout, performance envelope) completed by junior engineers•Provide engineering support for manufacturing dispositions, vendor concessions (non-conformance) and field issues•Organize design reviews with lead engineers and business development reps, ensuring design is error-free and appropriate design for manufacturing & assembly has been achieved•Train and mentor new engineers via product overviews and setting up of design standardsProject highlights:•Designed new suite of Evo-trieve Bridge Plugs and Packer Straddles, supervising and managing the ISO 14310 V0 Qualification programme for the Bridge Plugs (Aberdeen, UK)•Investigated St. Malo Walker Ridge FS Valve failure, provided failure analysis and designed test fixturing to verify failure mode hypothesis (Arbroath, UK)•Responded to a field issue by redesigning existing pulling tools, resulting in a new generation of flow release pulling tools with enhanced tensile performance (Singapore)
