About Ryan Hackman
I spent the early part of my career as a Submarine Officer in the United States Navy. After being fully trained and certified to operate the nuclear propulsion systems at sea, I progressed to the Officer of the Deck role where I was responsible for ensuring success in achieving missions vital to national security, while operating safely in challenging situations. As Officer of the Deck, I safely navigated the submarine in and out of over ten unique ports around the world and through the Suez Canal and Panama Canal. After transitioning from Active duty to Navy Reserves, I had the opportunity to lead teams of associates as an Area Manager at Amazon's best performing large sortable fulfillment center in Lexington, KY. After setting volume records in AFE (Amazon Fulfillment Engine) and leading the most productive pick team of all shifts, I was promoted to Operations Manager where I was responsible for developing leaders, improving processes, and delivering results on behalf of our customers. From 2017 to 2020, I was a Senior Financial Analyst supporting U.S. Reverse Logistics Operations. In that role I had full financial responsibility for multiple Return Centers, and was the lead Labor Planner for all of Reverse Logistics in the United States. I completed Fixed and Variable Expense budget planning, and reported on variance to those plans. I partnered with Senior Operations leaders to drive improvements and cost savings. In late 2020 through 2021, I was placed in a "stretch" role at Amazon, as a Senior Operations Manager. In that role, I had overall responsibility for 24/7 operations in Vendor Returns and Digital Devices Grading-which was one of only two sites in the United States where devices such as Kindles were graded and returned to the fulfillment network. I led a team of Operations Managers, Area Managers, and Associates, who navigated a complete overhaul of the conveyance and sortation systems with grace and style in spring 2021.As of 2022, I am an Engineering and Business Instructor at Lafayette High School in Lexington, KY. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to Teach the next generation at Kentucky's largest High School!
