Gurafiku is an online archive surveying the history of graphic design in japan, maintaining a growing database of over 3,000 digital works spanning from the 1800s to the present. In October 2014, I presented a lecture on Japanese graphic design for the Tokyo TDC Exhibition at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, outlining the development of graphic design in Japan, from it's early stages in woodblock printing to its influence today. In July 2015, I curated the exhibition Rising From A Night’s Sleep: Observations of the Everyday in Japanese Graphic Design hosted at the gallery Present works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, featuring over 50 posters by 18 emerging Japanese graphic designers. In April 2017, I wrote the article Personal Basis: Familiarity in Japanese Graphic Design, which was published in IDEA Magazine, the leading design magazine in Japan.
