Profile bio

About Ryan Hillier

I was fascinated the first time I saw a gamma ray log, then I got to visit a drilling rig, and I was hooked. Oil and gas petrophysics became my sole focus. I tailored my education around that goal, and I continue to be excited by the combination of geology, physics, math, and chemistry that make up my profession. Today, I am a senior petrophysicist for ConocoPhillips supporting their Alaska Business Unit's Exploration Implementation Team.My career has allowed me to develop significant experience in operations, including being involved in new field development and serving as a lead petrophysicist for international and domestic exploration, both onshore and offshore, in conventional and unconventional basins. I’ve worked fields in Suriname and North America. When I’m not working, I play the drums and pedal steel guitar for Urban Heat Island, a band comprised of geoscientists from several companies. We enjoy playing at various locations around town and love to see other oil and gas peeps in the audience. Want to talk about Petrophysics or music? Contact me at ryan.hillier.2023@gmail.com.

Listed skills include Geology, Petroleum Geology, Geological Mapping, Earth Science, and 13 others.
