Ryan has built Overgrad from the ground up alongside his co-founder, Kevin Hoffman. Overgrad works alongside districts and charter networks to empower students to make an informed postsecondary choices.

Ryan worked for Deloitte Consulting LLC as a Business Technology Analyst within the SAP Package Solutions service line. Ryan is certified in Materials Management module within SAP Logistics. Ryan worked on the NetWeaver System Architecture Team as a Basis consultant for a client who is implementing a one-of-a-kind SAP Logistics solution.

Ryan worked at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in the St. Louis Public School system teaching Algebra II as well as an ACT Prep course. After his first year of teaching, he increased his student mastery level on state standards from 55.5% to a final level of 74.6% while moving his ACT students from the 9th percentile on the ACT composite score to the 33rd percentile. He also coached both Boys Soccer and Baseball becoming the first coach to implement academic standards for his players. Finally, he organized a student talent show that was expanded to two shows due to its success.

Ryan was selected to join Teach For America from a pool of 35,000 applicants nationwide. He participated in an intensive training program across the course of five weeks to develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve significant gains in student achievement. During the summer, Ryan taught low-income students in the Atlanta Public School District leading his 5th grade students to a half years growth in reading level in just 4 weeks.

Ryan worked in a team with two other students from the University of Illinois to develop a perpetual inventory system for a wooden telecommunication reel manufacturer, Van Voorst Lumber. The team revamped the previous physical inventory system by creating an efficient labeling system, constructing bills of materials for each of their products, and producing manuals to train employees how to use the system. Ryan and his team estimated the system would save Van Voorst Lumber approximately $25,000 a year in labor savings while accounting for $10,000-$15,000 in inventory discrepancies each month.
