Aloha mai, I serve as a Research Soil Scientist at the USDA-NRCS National Soil Survey Center. I entered the USDA as a Class of 2022 Presidential Management Fellow, serving as an Agricultural Project Coordinator in the Office of Energy and Environmental Policy on climate change programs.My research interests are in pedology (soil genesis, morphology, and classification), tropical and volcanic ash-influenced soils, mineralogy, spatial statistics, and digital soil mapping.Dissertation title: Soil genesis across a climo-lithosequence of western Haleakalā, Maui.Prior US Navy Tactical Helicopter Aircrewman and Aviation Rescue Swimmer (Active—6 yrs, Reserves—2 yrs).I enjoy learning Hawaiian, Scouting, weight training, and archery. And when I’m home, some bodysurfing and spearfishing!
