My story:In 2007 I had just graduated magna cum laude from one of the top 3 undergrad business schools in the country at Notre Dame. The economy was rolling and opportunities were in abundance. But then my life took an unexpected turn: God led me to volunteer a year as Millard Fuller's Special Assistant at his new start-up, The Fuller Center for Housing. (Millard was the Founder and long-time President of Habitat for Humanity.) In that role I founded the Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure, an annual series of cross country cycling events which has now had over 1,800 volunteer cyclists cover 48 states and raised over $4 million. Its greatest impact is on those of us who participate in it. (fullercenterbikeadventure.org)Since 2010, I've also been catalyzing the international programs of The Fuller Center. That has required overcoming the ground-shaking and unexpected loss of our celebrity Founder in only our 4th year by reinventing the driving forces of the organization. Now, thanks to new programs and partnerships and fueled by incredible supporters and local leaders around the world, our impact increased from about 100 new homes per year to over 450 annually including growth into 12 new countries. The pandemic forced innovation and bold decisions, out of which we have stronger and more vibrant than ever.
