A short term research project that was conducted alongside my former PhD supervisor and an external collaborator.

Playing piano and entertaining guests as they arrived into the hotel and restaurant. Responsible for selecting and performing a variety of piano music suitable for occasions ranging from Friday steak nights to wedding receptions.

Conducted an eight week research project under the supervision of a senior academic within the Condensed Matter Theory group. This project was my introduction to the world of open quantum systems. Quickly picking up the new physics, I learned how to analytically derive the quantum master equation that describes how a group of atoms evolves in time when they are coupled to a vacuum field.Furthermore, to analyse this system I wrote a MATLAB program which numerically solves the aforementioned master equation in order to find the steady state of the system. I arranged regular progress meetings with my supervisor throughout the eight weeks as well as maintaining notes documenting my progress.
