Worked simple tasks of administrative work such as ordering supplies for the office and dealing with mail. Became an integral part of the Budgets team in tasks such as running payroll, managing tax accounts, and even hiring a new member for the team. Worked with the Department up until the very end of the campaign to shutdown our 300+ person organization and transition to just a 10 person new team.

In the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity of a lifetime by being a Congressional Intern under the tutelage of Congressman Adrian Smith. During my time in the office I carried a variety of duties. Most of my time revolved around Constituent Services where I such tasks consisted of vetting calls from concerned Constituents. I would answer about 50+ calls a week and I would log their issues into our database and work with the staff on creating detailed and effective responses in a timely manner. These responses used a great amount of actual data to ease the Constituents nerves. I also had the pleasure of personally giving Constituents tours of the US Capitol Building and gaining a great connection with them. But the most important experience I gained was my ability to help with Policy and Legislation Research. Each week I would attend Legislative Markups, Briefings, Meetings, and Hearings and provide a detailed summary for the Legislative staff. The biggest contribution I had was being able to work directly with staff on HR 2224 where I performed research for counter arguments as well as handled marketing for the bill. In terms of marketing I emailed over a 100 different offices detailing how this bill would affect the Congressman’s districts. My work entailed for the bill to get a dozen or so Cosponsors from Congressmen in both parties. Though my time with the office was short lived, I was able to hone my skill set in order to work with the professionalism needed of a Legislator’s staff.
