Contracting work for a WiFi solutions company. Some of the roles included:- Assisting with Coffee shop installs around the UK.- This involved flashing the Access Points with the correct firmware.- Installing the iPOS till System and ensuring the install was neat.- Configuring Draytek router and ToughSwitch to secure the network to ensure wireless clients are unable to access the till systems.- Configuring a failover to a 3G SIM card should the ISP link fail.

10 days. Large scale WiFi deployment for 5000 seat arena

Completed 5 days work, Some of the tasks and responsibilities:- Configured VLANs to divide the network into small sections based on drop points.- Configured storm control on switches.- Rolled out software across a range of computers and iMacs.- Installed printer drivers and tested connectivity.- Set up computers for competitors.- Scanned for rogue WiFi access points.- Serviced Printers.- Locked down iPad’s to prevent tampering.- Installed a website blocker on public computers.- Provided support for live day.

I have completed a weeks volunteering with an event IT company called Pylon One. We deployed a temporary network at the NEC in Birmingham for The World Skills Show. This involved the following:- Patching edge switches to the core using multimode fiber cables. - Deploying switches to connect the drop points to the network.- Set up the machines for competitions.- Connecting the cables, monitors, mice, keyboards and power.- Deploying Workstations and printers, connected them to the network.- Installing software on competitors machines by pulling it down from a local server.- Setting up IP addresses on printers.- Walked around with a Fluke AirCheck, scanning the arena for rogue networks, We found a few and took them offline.

I successfully completed a weeks work experience. The task I completed were as followed:- Moving a client from one premises to another, this involved setting up the network and transferring the server and active equipment across.- Adding a new user to the network and setting up a VPN so the user can work from home.- Trouble-shooting and repair of customers PC's.- Adding printer drivers to multiple PC;s on a small network.
